Leadership Brentwood Recruitment Mixer
WHAT IS LEADERSHIP BRENTWOOD?
Leadership Brentwood is the flagship program of Williamson County Chamber Foundation, the non-profit arm of Williamson, Inc. Chamber of Commerce. It is an intensive eight month learning and networking opportunity encompassing Brentwood, Williamson County, and Middle Tennessee. Class members access decision-makers and information in various sectors, such as business, education, government, history, quality of life, media and entertainment.
WHAT IS MY COMMITMENT DURING THE PROGRAM YEAR?
The Opening Retreat begins in August and the Closing Retreat/Graduation is in early April. During the class year you should expect to participate in the opening and closing retreats, all program days, the graduation ceremony, and a small group project benefiting the City of Brentwood. There may also be occasional “homework” assignments, such as a police ride-along, and a small community “give-back” for each of the program days.
WHAT IS MY COMMITMENT AFTER GRADUATION?
Five class members will be selected to serve on the Steering Board for a two-year term. All class members are expected to plan the program days for the following year’s class.
WHAT ARE THE PROGRAM DAYS LIKE?
Each day begins at about 7 am and ends at about 6 pm (times may vary slightly). Days will begin at various locations, and you will be transported to the day’s events on a comfortable bus.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT THE OPENING RETREAT?
For the Class of 2025, the Opening Retreat will be held at the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center, beginning on the morning of August 23, and ending in the late afternoon on August 24. You will meet at Williamson, Inc. for breakfast, participate in various leadership activities, and ride together to the Retreat. You will get to know your classmates through a variety of fun, team-building activities as you learn more about the program year.
HOW MUCH TIME DOES THE SMALL-GROUP PROJECT REQUIRE?
You can expect to spend 10-15 hours on the project with your assigned teammates over the course of about eight months, and you will present your completed project at graduation to our Leadership Brentwood alumni, your family and your friends.
WHAT ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF PAST SMALL-GROUP PROJECTS?
Creation of the concept for the FiftyForward Martin Center, funding for the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater, establishment of the Leadership Brentwood Study Room at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library; installation of two inclusive swings at Brentwood City parks; and design and construction of a public safety memorial garden at Brentwood City Hall.
HOW IS THE CLASS SELECTED?
The selection of class members is based on your demonstrated leadership abilities and your commitment to Brentwood and Williamson County. Each class is chosen from a cross-section of the community, representing for-profit, non-profit and governmental entities.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS INVOLVED?
Tuition is $1000 per person, and covers meals, transportation and program materials. Limited financial assistance is available upon request.
WHAT IF I AM NOT SELECTED?
We review the applications submitted each year and accept approximately 20 into the program each year. If you are not selected, we highly suggest you reapply the following year.
HOW MANY LB GRADUATES ARE THERE?
There are over 550+ Leadership Brentwood alumni. The first class of 15 members graduated in 1991.
