This month's roundtable welcomes leaders from the City of Brentwood, including Mayor Regina Smithson and the city manager, Kirk Bednar.
Regina Smithson
Brentwood Mayor
Regina Smithson has served on the Brentwood City Commission since 1989. She is currently serving her second term as mayor and has also served as vice mayor. She has served on the Planning Commission, Historic Commission, Environmental Board, Sister City Board and Park Board.
Regina moved to Brentwood in 1982. She and her husband, John, have been married 47 years and have three children and 11 grandchildren. All of her children have moved back to Brentwood to raise their families. Their grandchildren all attend public schools in Brentwood. She and John own their own business, Smithson & Associates, Inc., a financial services company located in Brentwood. She is also co-owner in Silver Plum, Inc., in which she and her daughter design handbags that are made in the U.S.
Kirk Bednar
Brentwood City Manager
Kirk Bednar became city manager on January 26, 2013. In his role Bednar oversees the day- to-day operations of the city and ensures that the policies and programs approved by the Board of Commissioners are implemented in an effective and efficient manner. Bednar has 26 years of experience in local government. Prior to being city manager, he served as the city's assistant city manager for 13 years. He has held various positions with University of Tennessee MTAS, the City of Fort Worth, Texas.
A native of Streator, Illinois, Bednar earned a bachelor's degree from Augustana College in Illinois and a master's degree in public affairs from Indiana University. He is a member of the International City and County Management Association (ICMA), president of the Tennessee City Management Association, and member and past president of the Brentwood Morning Rotary Club.

Representatives are given a platform to discuss the issues in greater depth with their constituents. The one-hour program is aired on Comcast Channel 3, the county’s public information channel, and rebroadcast on Williamson County Television's YouTube Channel.
