Speaker: Yolanda Harris-Jackson, President of CABLE
Yolanda Harris-Jackson is a native of Nashville, TN. She is a 1994 graduate of Whites Creek High School and a 1998 graduate of Fisk University earning a B.A. degree in Communications and Theater. Currently, she is working on a Masters' degree in Christian Studies at Union University where graduation is set for Dec. 13, 2014.
Growing up as a "Preachers Kid," Yolanda was a natural born leader. She fell in love with the ability to help people realize their inner beauty and thrive from the resulting self-confidence. Following this belief she decided to pursue a licensure as a Manicurist. Entering college, she found a one-of-a-kind service to offer other students and paid her expenses through college on just "doing nails and make-up." A 19-year career in the beauty and wellness industry was the perfect route for Yolanda, allowing her to transform people's lives physically, mentally and spiritually.
Yolanda is very active in the community, serving on numerous non-profit boards such as her role as this year's President of CABLE, the largest women's professional networking and leadership organization in Tennessee. In 2007, she founded the "Daughters of Destiny Ministry" which serves girls from ages 8-18. During one week in the summer she serves as director of the Daughters of Destiny free camp for girls.
She has been recognized with numerous awards. In 1995, she was crowned "Miss Black Tennessee." In 2011 she won the Nashville Emerging Leader Award for Hospitality, in 2012 the CABLE Rising STAR Award and nominee for the Young Professionals Athena Award, the Service to Youth Award from the Parthenon Chapter of Links Inc. and the 2014 Values Award from Gaylord Opryland Resort.
Yolanda is married to William (Billy) Jackson, Sr. and the proud mother to Kennedy and William Jackson Jr. and blended with two beautiful step-children, Alysa Jackson and Michele (Lakeem) Boyd.
