Topic: Successful Business Practices from Female Entrepreneurs
Have you ever walked inside a local small business and noticed a $1 dollar bill framed on the wall? There's a good reason for that. Considering the countless unbillable hours and sacrifice it takes to open the doors of a business, receiving revenue from the first-ever customer is reason to celebrate. But what happens after you've reached the one-year, five-year or even 10-year milestone? How do entrepreneurs remain relevant and keep their businesses growing?
Learn from a panel of female entrepreneurs who know a thing or two about growing a successful company. Jill Cole, owner of Southern Events Party Rental, Kelly Gilfillan, CEO and executive editor of Home Page Media Group, and Amy Tanksley, owner of Uncle Classic Barbershop, will be the featured guests at Women in Business.

Jill Cole and her husband, Chip, have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Jill began her career at Willis Conference Center in Nashville and held many positions at the Conference Center serving as the assistant director before leaving in early 2007.
On the surface, the couple’s career goals seemed very dissimilar; however, they shared a dream to establish their own business. In 2004, the Coles realized the community’s need for quality and affordable event rentals. Without hesitation, the couple seized the opportunity by making their first purchase of 300 white wooden chairs and 20 tables.
Southern Events was initially run on the weekends out of the Cole’s residence, eventually transferring their inventory to storage units as the business expanded. In 2007, Southern Events became a full-time business, and they moved into their first warehouse. After experience more growth in 2011, the company relocated to the current location on Alpha Drive in Franklin and has established a reputation as the premier event rental service in Williamson County.
Jill’s seven years of event planning experience has helped her handle the creative aspects and client relationships with ease. Jill enjoys spending spare time with her two young sons.
