Back to School: How Can You Partner with Williamson County Schools?
Featuring: Dr. Mike Looney, Williamson County Schools Superintendent
Dr. Mike Looney has served as Superintendent of Williamson County Schools since December of 2009. During his tenure, the district has excelled to unprecedented levels of success. Williamson County Public Schools students boast a record composite average ACT score of 23.4, the highest ever TCAP scores, and now lead the state and nation in advanced placement course participation and exam pass rates.
Prior to joining Williamson County, Dr. Looney was Superintendent of the Butler County School District. He also served as Assistant Superintendent for Montgomery Public Schools and Calhoun County Schools, all in Alabama. His experiences include being a school principal, assistant principal and classroom teacher. Dr. Looney also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for seven years and six months. He was injured in the line of duty and subsequently retired at the rank of Staff Sargent.
Dr. Looney lists his greatest accomplishment as being married to his wife Gina for 25+ years and is the proud father to Michael, Zachary, Nathanial and Chloe. He has but one hobby, and that is jumping from planes - as he is an avid skydiver.
Also Featuring: Dr. Deb Enright
Dr. Deb Enright serves Williamson County Schools by securing alternative funding sources through a collection of efforts including the establishment of partnerships with the community and area businesses, and through grants. In this position, Deb has had the opportunity to design programs of engagement including the successful WCS Ambassador program, train WCS faculty and PTO leaders on the art of grant writing, implement the WCS online INVEST NOW giving program, and reach a wide and varied audience of Williamson County residents as the host of WC-TV's Money Matters program.
A graduate of Vassar College and Vanderbilt University. Deb holds a doctoral degree in Education Policy from Vanderbilt's Peabody College. She serves on Vassar's Alumni Board of Directors. This summer, Deb assumes the role of Chair of the Board at the Maryland Farms YMCA. She is a graduate of both Leadership Brentwood and Leadership Franklin.
