I'm a portrait photographer and third generation small business owner on a mission to capture legacies, tell stories and preserve memories through classic printed portraits. Unlike common drugstore materials, my framed, custom artwork is created on archival paper with UV resistant acrylic. It's designed to last not just decades, but centuries.
A native of Louisville, Kentucky, I grew up around my extended family. There were regular family dinners and lots of iced tea. My voice could barely be heard above the dull roar, but it didn’t stop me from inquiring about all the black and white pictures along the wall.
Who were these people, my own flesh and blood? Where did they come from? What legacy did they create for me?
My curiosity peaked when I learned about my great-great-grandfather Dietlev from Denmark, a portrait photographer and world traveler who immigrated in 1906. When I received my first camera at age 8, I began recording family vacations and reunions. I've been at it ever since, but sometimes life gets in the way.
After earning a bachelor's degree in marketing and a masters in geography (I sorta have a thing for maps), I spent many years providing strategic planning, project management, and analysis for the U.S. Census Bureau. In 2015, I needed a change and opened my photography business. It was like learning to fly. Back to my roots, I ran with open arms!
Since then I've established my legacy portraiture business and expanded it to include restoration and oral history services. Your family is worth it. The perfect time to start is now.
